Originally a social work major in the Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences, Karina Jimenez Torres ’26 quickly saw how the liberal arts could expand her opportunities. Through an internship that utilized Spanish and exposed her to domestic violence cases, she turned her Spanish minor into a degree in Spanish for health professions and added a degree in criminology and criminal justice. The first-generation college graduate now has her sights on working for the FBI.
