Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Core Values in Practice

The leadership, faculty, and staff of AddRan College value human diversity and share the belief that everyone has the same right to human dignity — regardless of age, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, gender expression, national origin, ethnic origin, disability, predisposing genetic information, covered veteran status, and any other basis protected by law along with economic class/social status, professional rank and achievements, and intellectual points of view.

Grounded in this belief, we aim to provide a diverse and accessible learning environment in which people of all cultures, backgrounds, and experiences can learn with one another. We believe that engagement with human diversity opens minds to new perspectives, which prepares graduates of our College to work, live, and communicate across differences.

AddRan is home to dozens of nationally and internationally-renowned experts in race, ethnicity, gender, religion, disability, veteran status, and social justice within and across the liberal arts. Teacher-scholars from AddRan engage undergraduates, graduate students, and diverse local communities in their research.

We in AddRan College share a commitment to workplace equity. Department and college leaders are proactive in implementing hiring, promotion, and merit practices that are non-discriminatory and free from biases. Through mentoring, collaboration, and college-wide DEI initiatives, we are building an inclusive community where persons from a variety of social identities, cultures, backgrounds, ideas, and religious traditions feel a sense of belonging and have opportunities to thrive.
